How to use First Principles

Each study is divided into seven short daily sessions. Allow about 10-15 minutes each day, although some longer passages may take more time.

Read the Bible passages before answering the questions. The questions are designed to help you investigate the text rather than give you a predetermined answer.

There are no 'right words' to write down. Record what you actually notice, think, question or conclude. If something does not make sense, write down the question rather than forcing an answer.

The links beside each reading open the passage in the NIV on YouVersion. Once there, you can change to another translation if you prefer.

A useful approach:

• Read slowly.
• Answer from the passage rather than from what you have previously been told.
• Notice repeated words, contrasts, commands, promises and questions.
• Keep track of unresolved questions.
• At the end of each study, look back over your own notes before discussing your conclusions with someone else.
